State of Origin for T20 cricket

A new State of Origin-style fixture will open the local Twenty20 cricket season next Friday night in Hamilton.

The domestic Twenty20 season will start next Friday night with the inaugural Island of Origin clash at Hamilton's Seddon Park, featuring a North versus South match.

Players will represent their islands of birth, ahead of a full weekend's opening round of the newly-named Georgie Pie Super Smash T20 competition.

Auckland's Kyle Mills will captain the North Island, who will wear beige, with Canterbury's Peter Fulton leading the South, who will wear silver.
