Auckland have defended the women's provincial rugby crown from Waikato 28-14 in a thrilling final at New Plymouth.

Waikato scored the opening try in the 5th minute, but Auckland soon recaptured the lead which they held for the rest of the match.
Waikato came within six points of Auckland in the second half before the seven times champions scored a late try to seal the victory.
