NZA wins first match in UAE

The New Zealand A cricketers have beaten the United Arab Emirates by a comprehensive 78 runs in the opening match of their tour to the UAE in Dubai.

New Zealand batted first in the 50 over match posting a total of 246 all out, the tourists losing their last wicket in the final over of their innings.

Opener Martin Guptill top scored for New Zealand A with 75 runs from 95 balls.

Guptill was the only New Zealand player to score more than 50 runs.

In reply the UAE struggled to 168 all out in 45 overs, the New Zealand total never looking under threat.

Paceman Adam Milne was the pick of the New Zealand A bowlers taking 3 wickets for 24 runs off 8 overs, with fellow seamers Kyle Mills and Doug Bracewell taking two wickets each.

New Zealand A's next match of the tour is against Afghanistan in Dubai on Wednesday night.
