The Dutch scored in the first half, before Olivia Merry grabbed the equaliser for the Black Sticks midway through the second half.

The Black Sticks defended well, especially their inexperienced goalkeeper Georgia Barnett.

Captain Anita Punt was delighted with her side's grit.

"It was a really gutsy effort from the girls today, it would have been nice to get the win but we'll always take a draw against the Dutch," she says.

Following their 2-1 win over Japan yesterday, the Black Sticks now have 4 points in their group, and are just behind the Netherlands on goal difference.

They play China in their last group match on Wednesday with all teams then heading into the quarter-finals.
