Top seeds Michael Venus and Katherine Westbury both made their title intentions clear at the the New Zealand Tennis Championships on Day Two at Albany Tennis Park.
With wildcards into the 2015 ASB Classic and Heineken Open on the line, Venus and Westbury were all business in their opening matches of the tournament, dropping just a game each while dispatching their junior opponents.

Second Round Men's Singles matches also involved second seed Rubin Statham, third seed Ben Mclachlan and defending champion and fourth seed Artem Sitak, who opened their 2014 campaigns in style, all cruising in straight sets wins.
There was one upset of sorts, with unseeded former New Zealand Davis Cup player Austen taking down heavy hitting ex ATP Touring Professional Wesley Whitehouse.
Whitehouse, the sixth seed and a semi-finalist in 2013, took the opening set of the match 6-4, but couldn't stay with Childs, the former NCAA Runner-Up taking his place in the quarter-finals with a 4-6 6-2 6-3 victory.
2013 Women's Singles champion Sacha Jones made it look easy in her first match of the 2014 event, while third seed and Fed Cup player Abigail Guthrie, and fourth seed and West End Cup Runner-Up Rosie Cheng, New Zealand's top ranked junior girl (199 ITF Junior World Rankings) also progressed.
Eighth seed Ashleigh Harvey was the only seeded casualty in the Women's Singles Draw on Day Two, beaten in three sets by unseeded Jane Carter.
Carter will face Cheng in the quarter-finals tomorrow.
Quarter-finals will start from 10.00am at Albany Tennis Park this morning (Thursday), before the tournament moves to ASB Tennis Arena tomorrow (Friday) for the semi-finals.
