The veteran New Zealand spin bowler Daniel Vettori says batsmen should never be run out in a game of cricket.

Vettori was commenting after playing his 280th ODI for New Zealand, breaking the record of Stephen Fleming.
Vettori, who turns 36 tomorrow, appears to have cemented his place in the starting eleven for the World Cup after impressing in the series against Sri Lanka.
He was asked about the run-outs in the Black Caps innings during the series, highlighted by Kane William's run-out for 97 in Dunedin yesterday.
"Top six batsmen should never get run out, I think it's a waste of a dismissal just for the sake of one run, if those guys can stay there as long as possible they'll make up that single at some stage. And so there is certainly no joy about the amount of run outs. It's not something we want to continue and it really has to stop because it could cost us an important game."
Meanwhile Ross Taylor says hopefully he and Williamson will get plenty more opportunities to work on their running between wickets.

The duo put on 117 for the third wicket in yesterday's 120-run win over Sri Lanka, although there was some dodgy running by the pair.
Williamson was run out when going for a second run, but Taylor hadn't moved.
"It's part of cricket, it's disappointing, we haven't had the greatest running between wickets in recent times. I guess communication probably has a little part to play but end of the day sometimes, I think there were six runouts today, it's one of those things but hopefully we can rectify that."
Taylor made amends with 96, just short of his 12th one day century.
The home side eventually set Sri Lanka a huge 316 to win when they finished their 50 overs 315 for 8.
Until yesterday Taylor's top score in the series had been 34 and Taylor says it was nice to contribute.
"Kane's been doing it very consistently for a long period of time and it was nice for me to score some runs. It's been a long time in between drinks I wasn't out of form, I just wasn't scoring any runs and it was nice to get a score on the board."
New Zealand now has an unbeatable 4-1 lead in the series with one match to play on Thursday.
