Ryder said he was in good shape having recovered from a back injury that has plagued him for the past two-and-a-half-months.

He said he wanted the Black Caps to win the tournament, despite him having missed out on a place in the team.

"No [regrets], none at all, I'm enjoying living my life and just moving on really," he said.

"I think they're going to go pretty well to be fair. Everyone's on form and the boys are playing well and taking great confidence into the tournament so I'm hoping they make it all the way through."

Jesse Ryder will take on controversial blogger Cameron Slater in a charity boxing event in Christchurch next month.
