Scotland's bowling performance against the Black Caps on Tuesday shows that the associate members are not at the World Cup to simply make up the numbers.
A day after Ireland stunned the West Indies by chasing down just over 300 in Nelson, Scotland had a sniff of a massive upset at University Oval in Dunedin when they reduced New Zealand to a shaky 137 for seven, chasing 143 for a win.
Scotland's captain Preston Mommson says despite the failure of thier top order batting, his team justified their place in the tournament.
"We showed we have a skillful attack there and when we put the ball in good areas we got rewards," he says. "That was obviously very pleasing, we were very close today and I'm very proud of the performance."
