Fruean has surgery on arm

The Crusaders centre Robbie Fruean has had surgery to insert a plate in his arm after suffering a serious injury in Saturday's Super Rugby loss to the Chiefs in Hamilton.

He fractured his right arm in the 40-16 defeat.

The timeframe for recovery from this type of injury is usually around four to five months.

Crusaders coach Todd Blackadder says the entire team is feeling for Robbie and sending him their best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Blackadder says they know that Fruean wanted to make this a great season so this is hugely disappointing for him.

He says they know that he will continue to contribute to the team while he is on the road to recovery and they hope that he is able to make a full recovery before the season is over.
