Up and coming New Zealand basketballer Tai Wynyard has been selected for next month's Nike Hoop Summit in the United States, which brings together the world's top under-19 players.

The 17-year-old 2.01-metre power forward committed to the top ranked University of Kentucky Wildcats college programme in January.

Wynyard, is the son of world champion woodchoppers Jason and Karmyn, will play for an international all-stars team against a United States Junior team on April 11th in Portland.

He made his debut for the Tall Blacks against South Korea last year when he was still at Auckland's Rangitoto College and was a member of the New Zealand Breakers squad which won this season's ANBL title.
