The Blues are winless through their first five matches after losing to the unbeaten Hurricanes on Friday, and pressure continues to mount on their coach.

However Kirwan says he's on the right track and has made positive changes since coming on as coach for the 2013 season.

"We haven't won for 13 years. This club has taken on a completely different shape and it's very different to how it was two years ago," he says.

"For me, I think it's important that I take the responsibility for what's going on, but that we take a good look at the process and make sure that we don't throw the baby out with the bathwater because we believe that we're heading in the right direction."

The Blues have finished 10th in the two years under Kirwan so far.
