City won 2-0 at the home of local rivals Waitakere United, in the first leg of their semi-final clash at Fred Taylor Park.

In the 51st meeting of the two sides, first-half goals to new All White and former Waitakere United player Ryan De Vries and Oscar Garcia got the visitors across the line in the 11th straight victory for Auckland City.

Team Wellington meanwhile moved a step closer to reaching their second-straight ASB Premiership final on Saturday, beating Hawke's Bay United 2-1 in their semi-final first leg at Napier's Bluewater Stadium.

A goal in each half from Solomon Islander Henry Fa'arodo saw off Hawke's Bay who struck through a first half Saul Halpin penalty.
