The All Blacks and Hurricanes first-five-eight Beauden Barrett will miss the next four weeks of the Super Rugby competition with a knee injury.

Barrett suffered the injury in the Hurricanes' win over the Crusaders at the weekend, limping off part way through the match.

A scan shows shown he's suffered medial ligament damage.

Barrett says while disappointed, he's relieved the injury is not season ending.

"I've been pretty lucky to have a good run without injury for a while, but it's now up to me to work hard on my rehab and make sure I'm ready to return at the business end of the season," he said

Should all go well with his rehabilitation, the Hurricanes hope Barrett will be able to play against the Crusaders in in Nelson on May 29th.
