NZ women 5th in Amsterdam

The New Zealand women's sevens team have finished fifth at the last tournament of the World Series in Amsterdam, but only had to turn up to win the series title for the third year in a row.

Canada won their first tournament when they beat Australia 20-17 in the final, but both teams had already earned passage to the Rio Games, along with New Zealand.

England also secured a place in the 2016 Olympics after beating the United States in the third place play-off.

New Zealand notched wins over South Africa and Fiji in pool play before losing to the United States.

They narrowly lost their quarterfinal against England 17-14, before beating Russia 31-5 in the plate semi-final and overcoming France 35-5 in the plate final.
