Origin Blues continue

The fallout from New South Wales' thrashing in the State of Origin decider has begun, with Beau Scott and James Tamou to miss one NRL match each - while fellow Blues forward Trent Merrin is facing a four-week stint on the sidelines.

Scott and Tamou have submitted early guilty pleas to judicial charges incurred in their record 52-6 capitulation in Brisbane.

Scott was hit with a grade-one dangerous throw charge by the NRL match review committee for his tackle on Queensland skipper Cameron Smith, and will sit out Newcastle's clash with Canberra on Friday, and Tamou will miss North Queensland's visit to Brookvale to face Manly on Monday week, after being charged with a grade-two careless high tackle for a clumsy effort on the Warriors' Maroons prop Jacob Lillyman in the second half.

Meanwhile, Blues team-mate Merrin will be slapped with a four-game ban even if he takes the early guilty plea.

The St George Illawarra backrower's been charged with a grade-two dangerous throw for his first-half spear tackle on Corey Parker, and carry-over points ensure he'll sit out four games at least.

The news compounds the suffering for New South Wales fans, while the players themselves couldn't couldn't exit Suncorp Stadium quickly enough on Wednesday night.

By the time most journalists were able to gain entry to the Blues sheds, the only thing close to a player was a banner of their images that had been plastered on the wall pre-game.

The beers sat on ice in an empty changeroom, with stray bits of used tape and the faint, fading smell of Dencorub the only evidence there had once been a team so full of ambition there only minutes before.

The New South Wales players were clearly in no mood to chat, while their droughtbreaking series win last year seems like nothing but a dream.
