Froome keeps control after time trial

11:32 am on 13 July 2015

British rider Chris Froome has retained the overall lead after the ninth stage on the Tour de France, a closely fought team time trial in Brittany, on the eve of the Tour's first rest day.

Froome leads the American Tejay van Garderen by 12 seconds overall, and the 2013 champion will be keen to underline his dominance as the tour heads for the mountains - the Pyrenees in the second week, and the Alps in the third.

The title is further slipping away from Italy's defending champion Vincenzo Nibali who again lost time on his main rivals to slip to 13th, two minutes 22 seconds down on Froome.
