Pakistan bundle out Australia on first day in Sydney

6:33 am on 4 January 2010

The Pakistan cricket side are 14 without loss in reply to Australia's first innings of 127 heading into the second day of the second test in Sydney.

Pakistan swing bowler Mohammad Asif has made a mockery of Australian captain Ricky Ponting's decision to bat first on one of the greenest SCG pitches in living memory, producing figures of six for 41.

On a rain-affected opening day Australia succumbed to their equal fourth lowest total against Pakistan but it could have been even worse.

The hosts slipped to 62-7 at one stage before No.8 Mitchell Johnson (38) and No.9 Nathan Hauritz (21) put on 42 to save their side from even greater embarrassment.
