Australia's Berrick Barnes recovering well from injury

Australian rugby player Berrick Barnes is likely to play in the final Waratahs Super 14 trial after a positive medical report about his ankle injury.

Barnes was named the Wallabies vice-captain for last year's spring tour to Japan and Europe but failed to play any games after suffering an ankle injury in the lead-up to the final Bledisloe Cup match.

But Barnes had the cast removed from his foot before Christmas and trained with the Warratah's squad earlier this week.

Waratahs coach Chris Hickey says Barnes has made good progress and is likely to make the final Super 14 trial against the Brumbies.
