Argentinian footballer Juan Sebastian Veron has turned down a personal offer from Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini to join the English Premier League club.
Mancini took charge of Manchester City last month, and has previously coached the current Estudiantes captain at Italian club Inter Milan.
But Veron says he immediately turned down the offer because he has strong family and emotional ties with Argentina and his club.
Veron lead Estudiantes to the South American Libertadores Cup title in July and to second place in the Club World Cup behind Barcelona at Abu Dhabi last month.
He has also been voted South America's top player for the last two years
