Petty qualifies for semi-finals at World Champs

New Zealand runner Angie Petty has finished fourth in her 800 metres heat at the world athletic champs in Beijing to qualify for the semi-finals.

Petty led for much of her race but was pipped on the finish line, with the first three from each of the six heats advancing to the semis along with the six fastest qualifiers.

Petty ran 2.00min 62 seconds, to get through to the next round as the fourth fastest of the six qualifiers who fnished outside the top three.

Going into the world champs she held the seventh fastest time of the year and recently won the 800m title at the World University Games in Korea where she ran 1:59.06.
