Tom Brady, who was at the centre of the Deflategate saga, led the defending Superbowl champion New England Patriots as they beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 28-21 at home on Friday.

Brady had his four-game ban, for his alleged role in the deflated ball game last season, overturned by a judge.

He said he's now turned his attention to his team.

"Now the goal is to focus on what my job is and what I need to do to go out there and help our team win. I know a lot of guys in this locker room that have worked really hard to get to this point and I'm excited to be able to go out there and do it," Brady said.

Australian National Rugby League turned NFL convert Jarryd Hayne's San Francisco 49ers play their first game of the season on Tuesday against the Minnesota Vikings.
