The top seed at the Sydney International tennis tournament, Gael Monfils, has withdrawn from the event with a shoulder injury.
The world number 12 says his serving shoulder has become inflamed and needs several days rest although he hopes to recover in time for the Australian Open which starts in Melbourne next week.
