Lee was three under par and had just hit his tee shot on the 18th hole when play was suspended for inclement weather.

The 25-year-old had five birdies and two bogies in his opening round, with three birdies coming on the 11th, 14th and 15th holes to lift him up the leaderboard, seven shots off the pace.

Australian Jason Day was leading on 10-under when play was stopped.

Day's unfinished round included nine birdies and an eagle.

Lee remains on course to maintain his FedEx Cup ranking of 14.

This is the third tournament in the lucrative end-of-season series.

The top 30 players on FedEx Cup points advance to next weekend's Tour Championship in Atlanta, where the victor wins around $15 million in prize money.
