The Steamers' first-five Nick Evemy kicked three first half penalties to give the visitors a 9-0 lead at the half-time break.

The Bay of Plenty wing Elijah Nicholas scored the match's first try to make it 16-nil to the Steamers with just over half an hour to go.

Northland were the next to score but the sole try would be their only points in the one-sided match.

The bonus point win ensures Bay of Plenty will finish the round third overall in the second tier Championship competition, while Northland, who fell to their seventh successive loss, remain bottom of the same table.
