Flying Fijians prop Manasa Saulo has been banned for 10 weeks for stamping on the head of the Welsh forward Luke Charteris during Fiji's 23-13 defeat to Wales last Friday.
Tournament officials said the offence was considered at the "top end" of the danger scale, and the judicial officer had considered a four month ban.
But he took into account Saulo's early admission, disciplinary record, good character and remorse.
Saulo will miss Fiji's final World Cup game - their pool match against Uruguay on Wednesday morning.
He's the third Fiji player to be suspended in as many World Cup matches, after Dominiko Waqaniburotu and Nemani Nadolo each missed one game.
