Fiji hoping to end World Cup on a high

Fiji are looking to sign off from the Rugby World Cup in style following a campaign that promised plenty but ended in frustration.

The Flying Fijians are yet to earn a competition point following defeats to England, Australia and Wales in the 'pool of death'.

Wales coach Warren Gatland said this week that in reality it was more like the "pool from hell" and suggested if Fiji had been in any other group they would have made the quarter-finals.

Assistant coach Tabai Matson said Fiji was yet to put a complete performance together and wanted to finish well against Uruguay.

"It's frustrating but this group here is quite a young group.

"Hopefully they'll learn from this, we can build, we can play more tier one teams, and hopefully at the next World Cup they can be in an easier pool.

You can't play for 60 minutes or 40 minutes as we've done on a couple of occasions and expect to win [against] a team who is number two or number three in the world.

For us it's been great experience and one of the things we're really excited about is how well we've competed.

Matson said today's match against Uruguay gave the team a chance to get one possibly more competition points, and "finish on a high".
