Rangers through to Scottish Cup fifth round

2:03 pm on 20 January 2010

Football club Rangers have scraped through to the fifth round of the Scottish Cup after a 2-0 extra-time win over Hamilton.

It was the third game in 10 days between the two clubs, with the sides drawing 3-3 at the first meeting and Rangers narrowly winning the second match 1-0.

Hamilton once again frustrated the Cup holders and forced the replay to extra-time, but Steven Whittaker scored two goals in quick succession to ensure Rangers progressed to the next round, where they'll meet St Mirren.

Celtic easily advanced to the fifth round with a 1-0 away win over Morton and will face Dunfermline, while the Raith Rovers will meet Aberdeen after beating Partick Thistle 1-0 in their fourth round Cup match.
