The Wellington Phoenix have beaten Adelaide United 4-2 in front of almost 14,000 fans at Wellington Stadium in their A-League football fixture.

It was the Phoenix' first home game since Football Federation Australia declined to give the club a 10-year A-League licence extension and after drawing average home crowds of about 6,000 this year, more than 13,500 fans attended the match.
Despite being without five players who were on international duties for the All Whites, the Phoenix dominated Adelaide for most of the 90 minutes.
The game didn't get off to the best of starts for the Phoenix though, with Adelaide opening the scoring in the first three minutes.
However, the scores were level just a minute later when midfielder Roy Krishna found the back of the net.
The Phoenix then scored again in the 23rd minute through Roly Bonevacia.
Keeper, Glen Moss was put under pressure throughout the first half but managed to keep the score 2-1 at half-time.
Following the break Bonevacia found the back of the net a second time after letting the ball fly from 25 yards out of the box.
The match was then sealed when sub Matthew Ridenton also found the back of the net with just 20 minutes remaining.
A late goal to Adelaide in the 89th minute was only a consolation for the visitors who were outplayed across the park.
The Wellington Phoenix are now in third spot on the A-League ladder.
