Ko on leaderboard in season finale

The New Zealand golfer Lydia Ko is on the leaderboard after the opening round of the LPGA tour's season-ending Tour Championship in Florida.

The world number one fired a 3 under par 69 to be tied for 9th.

18 year old Ko is 3 shots behind the leader Austin Ernst of the United States.

Ko birdied three of her last seven holes to move into contention for her sixth LPGA victory of the season.

This event will decide the Player of the Year and money titles, the final rankings for the year, and a one million US dollar bonus for the champion.

18 year old Ko leads South Korean Inbee Park in all but one of the categories.

The two top-ranked players have each won five titles this year.

Park opened with a 71.

Yesterday Ko was handed the keys to a car she won for the most top ten finishes this year (16) unfortunetly she doesn't have a drivers license.
