Auckland pole vaulter Eliza McCartney has broken the world Under-20 record at an athletics meet at Mt Smart Stadium.

McCartney jumped 4.64 metres for a personal best by 14 centimetres.
The 19-year-old's leap is also a New Zealand National & Resident record.

Last month she reached the Olympic qualifying B standard of 4.5 metres.
