New cricket coach expected to be announced on Saturday

An announcement on who the new national cricket coach will be is expected tomorrow, following a meeting by the New Zealand Cricket board on Friday.

NZ Cricket also confirmed this morning that Ross Taylor will back up Daniel Vettori as Black Caps captain for the up-coming Bangladesh and Australian series.

It appears the national body wants to see how Taylor copes with a leadership role, and the move isn't an indication the side's leading batsman has surpassed former vice captain Brendon McCullum in the leadership succession stakes.

The NZC chief executive Justin Vaughan has confirmed that a recommendation had been made to the board.

The Black Caps have been without a coach since Andy Moles quit last October with skipper Daniel Vettori assuming a caretaker's role for the Pakistan series.
