Ko third in Florida

2:47 pm on 8 February 2016

New Zealand world golf No.1 Lydia Ko blew her share of the lead in Florida to finish third equal at the latest weather-affected LPGA Tour event in Florida.

Ko shot a three over par 75 final round, with South Korea's Ha Na Jang extending her lead to win by two strokes.

It was Ko's first event of the LPGA season after she skipped the year-opening event in the Bahamas to rest.

It was Jang's first LPGA victory, and she had to overcome waterlogged conditions and a marathon final day to triumph at the Coates Golf Championship in Ocala.

Ko started the day tied with Jang, but the Aucklander dropped six shots in the first 13 holes of the final round before steadying what had been a sinking ship with three consecutive birdies from the 15th.

The Coates Championship was the second event of the season on the LPGA circuit, which now heads overseas for events in Australia, Thailand and Singapore.
