Conor O'Shea is set to step down at the end of the season having guided the club to the Premiership title in 2012.

Smith has been an assistant coach at the Chiefs in recent years and helped the All Blacks to World Cup success last year.

The Times newspaper and Sky Sports is reporting that Smith is in talks with the London club.

The 58-year-old, currently on sabbatical, has previously worked in England as director of rugby at Northampton Saints for three years.
