Fijian switches to Australia for Anzac Test

The Australian men's rugby league team has been named to face New Zealand in next Friday's Anzac Test at Newcastle, with a former Fijian international selected to debut.

Semi Radradra is among four debutants - fellow wing Blake Ferguson and interchange players Josh McGuire and Michael Morgan - who will play the Kiwis at Hunter Stadium on Friday May 6.

And the Parramatta Eel's selection, after representing Fiji just two seasons ago, again highlights the flimsiness of international league's eligibility rules.

Under the Rugby League International Federation's regulations, a player cannot switch countries "until the end of the next World Cup tournament, or the expiry of two years, whichever is earlier".

The match will mark Mal Meninga's first in charge of the Kangaroos.

Meninga said it was a well-balanced squad and he was extremely happy with it.

"We have some experience as well as a handful of younger players who I am looking forward to seeing in this arena," Meninga said.

"It is the fourth most experienced line-up in Australia's Test history, but there will also be four players making their debuts.

Meninga called the Test an incredibly important game for the team, who he wants to re-establish back at the top of the international rankings, where New Zealand currently sit, having won the last three Tests in a row.

"We have a Four Nations tournament at the end of this year and then a World Cup in 2017," Meninga said.

"This is the start of an important journey for the Kangaroos."
