Leading 8-3 at half time, the New Zealanders produced a dominant second half scoring another three tries with Jordie Barrett, the younger brother of All Black Beauden, highlighting his own skills with 15 points to his name.

The second five scored a try, and kicked two conversions and two penalties.

Wing Mason Emerson touched down twice with lock Quentin Strange scoring New Zealand's other try.

The second game is on Saturday on the Gold Coast.

There are only two teams, Australia and New Zealand, at this year's Oceania Under 20 Championship, with the Pacific Island teams recently playing qualification games for next year's Under 20 World Championship.
