Chelsea's England defender Ashley Cole is expected to be sidelined for about three months after fracturing his left ankle in their Premiership football match against Everton.
The 29-year-old left back is likely to miss the rest of the Premier League season, which ends on May 9th, and faces a race to be fit for the World Cup in South Africa starting on June 11th.
Cole, who has 77 caps, has been England manager Fabio Capello's first choice at left back.
