Despite gaining plenty of confidence from his maiden win in the World Rally Championship in Argentina, New Zealand's Hayden Paddon isn't predicting victory in the latest round in Portugal which starts tonight.

Paddon beat three time and defending world champion Sébastien Ogier, by 14 seconds in Argentina to now sit in second spot on the drivers championship.

Paddon says conditions in Portugal will take some adjusting to but he still hopes for a top three finish.

"We've got to stay realistic and this is quite a different rally and represents quite new challenges so we are expecting some very sandy conditions and there's been quite a bit of rain lately which has made conditions quite soft and I think on the repeat runs I think it's going to be very tough," said Paddon.

Paddon's not predicting back to back victories but is optimistic of a top three finish.

"We're not expecting to be fighting for the win here but we are expecting to be fighting up towards the front and would like to be on the podium but it's going to be a challenge.....and the weather could be a factor but we are as ready as we can be."
