Two young New Zealand BMX riders are on top of the world after winning titles on the opening day of the BMX world champs in Colombia.
Sacha Earnest from Auckland won her third world title, taking out the 10 years title while Leila Walker from Cambridge won the 11 years final, which is the fourth year in a row she has won a title.
Four New Zealanders won medals on the opening day of the competition on which events for riders 12 years and under were held.
It was a double celebration for the Greenough family from Cambridge with Jack Greenough finishing second in the 11 years final and sister Lily winning the bronze medal in the nine years class.
Two other young riders made the grand finals today with Whangarei's Luke Brooke-Smith seventh in the eight years division and Te Awamutu's Brooke Penny fourth in the 11 years final.
The age groups from 13 years and above plus Masters will be decided tomorrow ahead of the Cruiser class on Saturday.
The elite categories will be held on Sunday with the finals on Monday.
