Race officials at the Winter Olympics are confident that the popular men's alpine skiing downhill event scheduled for tomorrow will go ahead after a weekend of postponements due to bad weather.

The race director, Guenther Hujara , says the weather is showing signs of improvement and he expects better course conditions to follow.

Hujara says people will be working on the course through the night and he is confident that the race will start on time.

Overnight rain in the Whistler area has eased off and colder temperatures are forecast for the coming days.
