New Zealand boxer David Nyika has failed to qualify for August's Rio Olympics.

The Hamilton heavyweight was beaten by Dutchman Roy Korving on points in the round of 16 at the final

Olympic qualifying tournament in Azerbaijan.

Nyika, the Commonwealth Games champion, was New Zealand's only boxer still in contention for Rio.

Meawnhile professional boxers who compete at this year's Olympics will be stripped of their International Boxing Federation titles, the IBF has said in a statement.

Professional boxers were given the go ahead to compete in Rio earlier this month but the IBF is unhappy with the decision and said there was an inherent safety risk with professionals competing against amateurs.
