The 27-year-old has been selected to ride for German team Bora-Argon in next month's prestigious race.

Archbold won gold in the scratch race at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games and bronze in the team pursuit before switching his focus from track to road cycling.

Archbold will be one of the lead-out riders for the Bora-Argon team's sprinters.

He made the team's final cut from 11 riders down to nine.

The 2016 Tour de France runs from July 2nd to 24th, with riders racing over 21 stages that cover more than 3500 kilometres.
