Some Wallabies could play sevens at Commonwealth Games

The Australia rugby sevens coach Michael O'Connor is looking to bolster his squad with national test players to improve the side's medal chances at the Delhi Commonwealth Games in October.

O'Connor guided Australia to the semi-finals at the IRB Las Vegas sevens last weekend - their best result in two years.

O'Connor says his improving side would be a genuine Commonwealth gold medal contender with the addition of a couple of Australia's test rugby stars.

He says he's spoken to the Australian Rugby Union about the idea, and has his eye on the Wallabies winger Digby Ioane, flanker David Pocock and centre James O'Connor.

Ioane last played sevens in 2003 but says he'd love to play at the Commonwealth Games if it fit in with the test programme.

The Delhi Games sit between the end of the Wallabies Tri-Nations campaign and their Spring Tour of Europe, but clash with the preparation schedule for that European tour.
