Bangladesh fight back in Hamilton

7:22 am on 18 February 2010

Bangladesh took the honours yesterday, but the Black Caps still have the upper hand with two days to play in the one-off cricket test in Hamilton.

The visitors beat the odds to comfortably avoid the follow on, thanks to a maiden test century by Mahmudullah and 87 from skipper Shakib Al Hasan which helped their side to a first innings total of 408. Al Hasan was dismissed in controversial circumstances when TV replays showed that an edge off Chris Martin's bowling had not carried to wicketkeeper Brendon McCullum.

In the five overs before stumps last night, New Zealand lost BJ Watling to a run out, and at 9 for one wicket, the Black Caps lead overall by 154 runs.
