Erakovic has replaced her coach of the past two-and-a-half years, Eduardo Nicolas, with the Auckland-based Wesley Whitehouse.

The world number 113 will compete in the US Open qualifying rounds this week, where she'll face the 163rd ranked Yafan Wang of China in the first round,

They have never played each other on the WTA tour.

In the men's qualifying, New Zealand's Rubin Statham has a tougher taks to make the next round.

Ranked 431 in the world, Statham must overcome Korea's Duckhee Lee, who is ranked 240 places above him at 191.

The only time they have played in an ATP event was in the qualifying of the ATP Challenger in Launceston, Tasmania earlier this year, where Lee won 6-2 7-6.

Neither Erakovic or Statham are scheduled for the first day of qualifying play on Wednesday (NZ time).

Michael Venus, Marcus Daniell and Artem Sitak will all play in the doubles main draw in New York.

The US Open will begin on August 29.
