Newcastle beat Gold Coast on penalties in their A-League football elimination semi-final in Queensland.
The Jets will play the winner of this evening's elimination playoff between the Phoenix and Perth in Wellington.
They can thank goal keeper Ben Kennedy who saved the 14th shot of the penalty shootout after some great saves in regulation and extra time when he twice denied the league's leading scorer, the former Phoenix star Shane Smeltz.
