Woodward told the Bristol club website that he felt the time was right to move on and believes Bristol is a good fit.

Woodward came to the fore at the end of the Super rugby season replacing out of form All Black winger Julian Savea and starting in the the Super rugby final ahead of Savea.

Bristol's director of rugby and former England and British and Irish Lions coach Andy Robinson said Woodward was "an excellent acquisition. He has consistently impressed in Super Rugby."

The Hurricanes have already lost utility James Marshall from their championship winning side.

Marshall is heading to London Irish.
