After two embarrasing defeats in Nelson and Palmerston North, Jamaica played their best netball of the series in the first quarter in Rotorua, going to the break level 13-13 with the Ferns.

But after a sideline rev-up from coach Janine Southby, New Zealand came out firing in the second spell and raced to a 34-20 half-time advantage.

Southby handed the reserve, Ameliaranne Ekenasio, the goal attack bib for the third quarter and New Zealand's advantage grew.

Up 50-28 at the beginning of the final period, the Silver Ferns rang the changes.

Maia Wilson came off the bench to take the goal shoot bib from Bailey Mes, Phoenix Karaka moved into goal keep in place of Jane Watson and Storm Purvis replaced her captain Katrina Grant in goal defense.

The margin grew throughout the fourth quarter, but the Sunshine Girls did not lose heart despite being outscored 16-10.

Following the convincing victory, the former Silver Ferns coach Taini Jamison presented Grant with the Taini Jamison trophy.

Grant was also named most valuable player of the match.

New Zealand next play Australia in the four match Constellation Cup Series in October.
