The Black Caps are optimistic skipper Kane Williamson will be fit and available to play in the third and final cricket test against India starting in Indore tomorrow.

Williamson missed the 178 run second test loss as he was suffering from a virus.

India go into the third test chasing a series cleansweep but Black Caps bowling coach Shane Jurgenson said having Williamson back would be a major boost.

Jurgenson said it was looking positive that Williamson would play but that was expected to be confirmed on Friday.

"He's trained ... done some batting, had a decent hit and a run around so we will have another look at him on (Friday) but it looks positive," he said.

Despite being 2-nil down in the series Jurgenson maintained there were plenty of positives for the side to focus on.

"It's hard work for all nations. It's very unique (conditions). It's a challenging place to come and play and a very special place to come and play. For us we have one test to go and that's the most important thing right now..and we've got a lot to play for," said Jurgenson.
