The first half was a relatively even affair with both teams creating a number of chances on attack.

Mexico opened the scoring through a penalty kick in the first half.

The penalty awarded was questionable after replays showed the Mexican player wasn't touched by any New Zealand defenders but just fell on his on accord.

New Zealand struck back quickly in the second half when they caught Mexico's defense napping.

Marco Rojas found the back of the net when Deklan Wynne sent in a left field cross that beat all of Mexico's defenders.

Another Marco, Marco Fabian scored Mexico's winner just moments later though to regain the lead and the eventual win.

The All Whites take on the United States in their next international friendly on Wednesday.
