White Ferns win first ODI

The New Zealand womens cricketers have won the first one-day international against Pakistan by 8 wickets at Lincoln.

After winning the toss the White Ferns dismissed Pakistan for 156 with Nain Abidi making 49 and Asmavia Iqbal an unbeaten 49.

New Zealand pace bowler Lea Tahuhu took three wickets for 37 runs, while Morna Nielsem took two for 27.

16 year old Amelia Kerr took one for 21 on debut.

The White Ferns raced to their target in 23 overs.

Captain and opening batter Suzie Bates scored an unbeaten 64, while fellow opener Sam Curtis made 55.

The second game of the five-game series is at Lincoln on Friday.
